Dalewool Youth BrassDalewool Youth Brass is a competing and performing Youth Brass Band. Founded by Nigel Weeks early in the new millennium we have achieved great results in competitions in a really short time. 2005 saw a new beginning for the band with conductor Steven Packer of the Royal New Zealand Navy Band taking the helm. The band plays a wide variety of styles, from Marches to Big Band to Movie music and stuff you hear on the radio. We encourage young people to put their own original music up in front of the band for us to play. We do several concerts throughout the year and compete in the Auckland Band Association Regional Contests. We also have several social events each year. The biggest and best is the Christmas Party and Awards Presentation. We offer the opportunity to attend several courses in music. Within our band you’ll get help from some fantastic adult helpers that come in on a regular basis. These include playing members of Dalewool Auckland Brass and the Royal New Zealand Navy Band, both of which are premier ensembles. Most of our players are between 14 and 23 years of age and are at Grade 5 or higher standard. We are proud of being a place to go to enjoy playing good music – with a focus on fun. We can assist in arranging tutors if required. We do our best to work around school and other commitments. Please contact the band for further information. We look forward to meeting you soon. |
